Christmas in January

This past weekend I made my first roadtrip to my dads house in Salem, OR. I know an hour and half of driving may not seem like much to all you old folk but to a 17 year old girl who is about to embrace her independence its one of the most exhilerating feelings you can obtain. My favorite part about the time was the time I had to myself. The time I had to think of whatever subject popped into my head. Just driving down the highway at 65 ( cause you know teenagers dont speed)
.
Small towns….I LOVE EM’. Walking into a small town diner is the best feeling in the world. We have all seen it you walk in and see a old grandpa sitting at the bar drinking his morning coffee and has the same exact thing everyday. Small towns are full of cheery folks who would drop everything to help you out. This past summer i visited my moms home town during the fair and while here the rides are everything, there the rodeo is the biggest event in town. While the fair is in town no one stays out at the movies or goes bowling everyone is at the fair. Its one of those things that when i grow up( boy dont I sound like a little kid) I know i want to be apart of something like that.

Artist Statement
Pictures are a view into the past, present and the future. When I see a picture, I look at it twice. Once to see my initial view and interpretation and the second to see what the photographer was really trying to show you. When others look at my photography I want them to do the same. And in doing so they can see and understand something they may never be able to witness themselves. This world has many wonders and it’s not likely that you or I will ever have to the privilege of seeing all of them.
When I take capture a moment of two friends laughing at something only they can understand is when I am most proud. No one else can experience that bond but they can see and feel it. They can connect with these people in the photo even if they don’t know who they are. That’s why I love photography and its ability to let you into a world of true freedom and individuality. When going to take a photo I don’t have any set limits, its all about what I want not what others want? No one can tell me how to take a picture because in the end it’s my decision when, where and all of the other factors until I push the button on the camera.
